The Boy Scouts of the Philippines will conduct its 14th National Jamboree on Oct. 22-28, 2007, at the Philippine Scouting Center for Asia-Pacific Region, Mt. Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna. At least 12,000 boy and senior Scouts from all over the country and other parts of the world will participate in the event, which is being held every three years.

The 54-hectare venue is the site of the 10th World Jamboree in 1959, the First Asia-Pacific and BSP Golden Jubilee Jamboree in 1973, the 12th Asia-Pacific and 9th BSP Jamboree in 1991 and the First Asean Jamboree in 1993. It is also being considered as the site of the Asia-Pacific Jamboree to be held in 2009.

With the theme, "Isang Mundo, Isang Pangako," Scouts will be able to overcome the barrier of differing cultures, creeds and ideologies and realize the value of peace and unity as they understand the importance of balancing development and ecology, BSP President and chairman of the Jamboree Organizing Committee Jejomar C. Binay said in a statement.

The event is being held in coordination with the Department of Education, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the local government units of Southern Tagalog Regions and major sponsors. It will be supported by the members of the executive board, thousands of volunteers, Scout masters, and staff of the 10 Scouting regions and 109 Local Councils of the BSP.

With membership of 2.7 million, BSP is the largest uniformed youth organization in the country and is the third largest in the world. It will mark its 71st founding anniversary next month.
