Boy Scouts of the Philippines national President and concurrent Makati Mayor Jejomar C. Binay urged yesterday for a support to 14th BSP National Jamboree.
"This about the youth, this is about the nations future.we are all called to lend a hand to this noble undertaking," he said during a meeting with staff and executives of the BSP National Office.
With the theme "One World One Promise," he said the jamboree marks those important events in Scouting: the 100-year anniversary of the global Scouting movement, the 71st founding anniversary of the BSP and the 50th anniversary of the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Organization of the Scouting Movement, which is currently holding office in the Philippines.
He said the theme of the jamboree is also the theme of the 21st World Jamboree held in United Kingdom where 40,000 Scouts, boys and girls, gathered for days of friendship and cultural understanding.
The BSP he said sent 100 representatives to the event.
Binay said the 14th National Jamboree shall be BSP and the country's contribution to the global observation of Scouting which was supported by world leaders headed by Prince William of Britain and other royalties in Europe.
"We should join the youth in expressing oneness amid cultural differences, we have crossed the barriers of indifference, we have surmounted difficulties brought by our own political creed, the youth can unite this country and the world, now is the time to be with them in expressing one faith," he said.
The 14th National Jamboree will be held on Los Baños, Laguna on Oct. 21 to 27. More than 10,000 young boys from the 109 Local Councils of the BSP Scouters, supporters and sponsors shall gather at the 54-hectare BSP camp for seven days.
The BSP invited several personalities like Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus to join the affair.
The National Jamboree is being held every 3 years.
