The Boy Scouts of the Philippines will soon have 14 more professional scouters with the holding of 28th National Training School now ongoing at the BSP National Office in Ermita, Manila .

The month-long training opened on Oct. 31 and will end on Dec. 2. All graduates will undergo training in several offices of the BSP.

The aspirants, who come from the different scouting regions and local councils all over the country, some of them Eagle Scouts and Wood Badge holders, are now undergoing rigid schooling about Scouting in the only training school of the movement. Professional Scouters and resource persons were invited to conduct lectures on management, principle and actual practices in Scouting operations.

NTS Director Roger S. Villa Jr., also director of Southern Tagalog and Bicol regions, said the NTS aims to train potential scout executives or professionals "to effectively help the BSP national office manage the affairs of the local councils, specifically, in the implementation of scouting programs and the maintenance of Scouting standards."

Villa said the training curriculum is designed to cascade the vision and mission of the BSP, its fundamental principles and the Scout methods to the young members of the movement.

"What we taught here are tools that the participants can use to become successful scout executives or professional staff," Villa said.

"The training is a requirement to those who are soon to become council scout executives and future regional scout directors enter the portal of the professional career service," he said

Formerly known as NEDI (National Executive's Development Institute), the NTS is "like a four-year course compressed into a month of rigid training," Villa added.
