The Davao City Council of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Pacific Coast Council of Scouts Canada signed yesterday a "twinning" agreement aimed at bolstering the ties between the two local councils of their respective mother units.
The Council Chairmen, Lawyer Wendel Avisado and John L. Chow, signed the agreement in Davao City Council headquarters in Davao City. Marciano A. Cruz, Council commissioner for special concerns and international relations of Davao and ACC for special projects of Pacific Coast Council also signed the brotherhood agreement for both councils.
Under the agreement, Davao and Pacific Councils shall adopt each other "for closer fellowship in the interest of both countries," and shall host Scouts and Scouters from each country for an "exchange program."
"The host Council will extend all possible courtesy and hospitality in the true spirit of Scouting and world brotherhood," Cruz said.
He said the twinning agreement has been a common practice among national Scout organizations around the world. Each BSP Council can forge closer ties with their counterparts to poster fellowship among other Scouts and Scout Leaders worldwide.
He said with the signing of the memorandum of agreement, the two councils can now work hand in hand in some projects that would benefit Scouts of both countries.
