The Davao City Council of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Pacific Coast Council of Scouts Canada signed yesterday a “twinning” agreement aimed at bolstering the ties between the two local councils of their respective mother units.

ON TO AMERICA – Boy Scouts of the Philippines National President Jejomar C. Binay turns over the Philippine Flag to BSP Vice President for Mindanao Allan Zulueta, contingent head of the BSP representative to the Boy Scout of America’s Hi-Sierra International Rendezvous 2008. The Philippines is one of the five countries invited to attend the yearly event. Others are from Trinidad-Tobago, Japan, Uganda, Ghana and England. Looking on are BSP Secretary General J. Rizal C. Pangilinan and the five Scout representatives.

Paul Julian G. Hao, winner of the 2007 Search for Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines poses with officers and members of the board of judges of the 4th Pambansang Gawad sa Ulirang Kabataan 2008 at the awarding rites held at the Luneta in celebration of the 110th Philippine Independence Day. Hao was the third Boy Scouts who won the award in four years. With him are Noemi Belosillo, DepEd NCR events director; Cecille Guidote Alvarez, chair of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts; Dr. Vilma Labrador, DepEd undersecretary; and Judelio Yap, dean of student affairs of Chiang Kai Shek College. Hao was a graduate of Chiang Kai Shek.

Joseph Florante C. Alvaro, internal auditor of the National Office of the Boy Scouts of Philippines, recently graduated from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with a degree in Master of Business Administration. He finished the course with an average of 1.15 or 98.80 percent.. read more

Several officers and volunteers of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines jump after burning down calories during the HALIKA (Mag-Healthy and Active Living Na) project of the Coca-Cola Company, held on January26 at the San Juan Gymnasium. Hundreds of Scouts joined the workout where Coca-Cola paid certain amount for every calories burned during the mass exercise. Proceeds of the event will go to certain civic organizations.

SCOUT LAPUS - BSP National President Jejomar C. Binay dons the neckerchief investing Education Secretary Jesli Lapus as member of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. Under the BSP charter, the DepEd secretary is a mandated member of the National Executive Board. Lapus has issued a memorandum reviving Boy scouting in public and private elementary and secondary schools nationwide.
